Technology in a Class? Should Be or Shouldn't Be?
Hello, hello, hello, Sarah here! Did you miss me? Because I’ve missed here while I was not posting. Fasten your belts readers, looks like we have a very up-to-date topic that we should think about as teacher-to-be-s today!
Firstly, what comes to your mind when I say “teaching with technology”? I can say that with new generations, it is inevitable for us not to integrate technology into our classes that we will lecture. It is the absolute fact that technology is a big part of our lives. So, if we use it wisely, we benefit more from it.
But I know that not everyone agrees with me. There are so many people that they want to remove technology as much as we can do in a learning environment. Why don’t we do a pros/cons list to decide on?
Pros/Advantages;
· It is definitely time-saving! Who uses the blackboard to show something when you have a projector?
· It is fun! Especially for students! Technology is always attractive to them. You can make them play online games for teaching words etc.
· It helps students to learn at their own pace! So, each student can learn more effective without any pressure.
These are the more or less main ones that come to my mind. Let’s have a look at cons/Disadvantages;
· It can be time-wasting when the teacher does not know how to use it.
· Therefore, it can be boring for students and they can be lost in a class.
· If you do not use it effectively, it just makes everything harder! Specifically, in terms of classroom management!
As you can see, if you integrate technology effectively and know how to use it, it actually has a real impact on the class, students and you. As a teacher candidate, I will use technology as a big supporter of my classes. I think it will attract my students’ attention and make everything simpler. It will avoid waste of time and students’ inattention which can be seen at any moment in any classroom.
Technology is all they care about! Unfortunately, children become captivated by technology at a very young age. We should turn it into our advantage while teaching.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's why it is our duty to use it wisely and not as a main subject of the class, just a supporter. Thanks for commenting btw!
